# Create a Project

> Start a new film project in Automat Studio

A project is your workspace for a complete film. It organizes all your characters, locations, scenes, and shots in one place, making it easy to manage and collaborate on your production.

## 1. Create a Project

From the home page or dashboard, click **Create New Project** and fill in the following details:

* **Name** — Choose a descriptive name for your project (e.g., "Sci-Fi Short: The Visitor" or "Documentary: City Life")
* **Synopsis** — Write a brief overview of your film's story, theme, or concept. This helps set the tone and can guide your creative decisions throughout production
* **Aesthetic** — Select a predefined visual style (if available) that matches your vision, or choose "None" to build your style organically as you create shots

Click **Create** to initialize your project workspace.

<Note>
  You can always edit the project name and synopsis later, but setting a clear aesthetic early can help maintain visual consistency across all your shots.
