# Generate Video

> Turn your first frame into a fully animated shot

Once your still looks right, the Generate Video tab brings it to life with motion and timing controls.

<Note>
  **Plan availability:** Generate Video is available on the Independent and Hollywood plans. [Upgrade your plan](https://www.automatstudio.com/subscriptions) to unlock this feature.
</Note>

## Workflow

1. Confirm the correct first frame is selected in the shot gallery
2. Enter a **video description** describing the motion and action you want to see
3. Select the **shot duration** to match your storyboard timing
4. Select the **camera movement** (static, pan, tilt, dolly, etc.) that fits your shot
5. Click **Generate Video** and let Automat render the clip (usually 2–3 minutes)
6. Review the playback, tweak settings if needed, and regenerate until satisfied

<Note>
  You can navigate away from the page while rendering—Automat will keep processing in the background.
</Note>

<Note>
  **Camera motion precision:** Precise camera motion is not guaranteed, but usually pretty accurate. Try different models to get different results—each model handles camera movement and motion differently. See the [Image-to-Video models guide](/models/image-to-video) for details on each model's capabilities.
</Note>

## Tips for Better Results

* **Be specific in your video description** — Describe the type of motion, character actions, and environmental dynamics you want
* **Experiment with models** — Different models excel at different types of motion; try multiple models to find the best fit
* **Adjust duration carefully** — Shorter clips often render faster and with better quality
* **Iterate on settings** — If motion isn't right, adjust the description, duration, or camera movement and regenerate
