Scenes are the building blocks of your film’s narrative structure. Each scene combines a location with specific characters and represents a story moment or sequence. You’ll create multiple shots within each scene to capture different angles and perspectives.

4. Create a Scene

⚠️ Prerequisite: You must create at least one location before you can create a scene.

Step 1: Enter Scene Details

  • From the Scenes page, click Create New Scene
  • Select a Location from the dropdown menu of all locations you’ve created in your project
  • Select Int (Interior) or Ext (Exterior) to match your location type
  • Select the Time of Day (Day or Night) for this scene
  • (Optional) Add a Synopsis describing what happens in this scene
💡 Tip: Use the location you just created and add the characters who will appear together in this story moment.

Step 2: Save the Scene

  • Click Save to create the scene
  • Your selected location will appear on the scene page

Step 3: Add Characters

  • From the multi-select character list, choose which characters appear in this scene
  • Click Save after making your character selections

Step 4: Create Shots

Once your scene is set up with a location and characters, you’re ready to create individual shots:
  • From the view scene page, click “Create Shot”
  • This will add a new shot to your scene and open the Shot Studio
  • See the Shot Studio guide for complete details on working with shots
