The Generate Video Direct tab allows you to bypass the first frame generation step and create motion clips directly from text descriptions. This workflow is ideal when you want to quickly generate video without iterating on a first frame first.
Plan availability: Generate Video Direct is available on the Independent and Hollywood plans. Upgrade your plan to unlock this feature.
How to access: To use Generate Video Direct, select the “Direct Method” switch in the bottom left corner of the Shot Studio interface.

When to Use

  • You want to skip the first frame iteration step
  • You need to quickly test motion concepts
  • You prefer to work directly from text descriptions rather than iterating on still images

Workflow

  1. Enter a video description describing the motion and action you want to see
  2. Select the lens that matches your desired shot composition
  3. Select the shot type (close-up, medium, wide, etc.)
  4. Select the shot duration to match your storyboard timing
  5. Select the camera movement (static, pan, tilt, dolly, etc.) that fits your shot
  6. Click Generate Video Direct and let Automat render the clip (typically 1-3 minutes)
  7. Review the playback, adjust settings if needed, and regenerate until satisfied
Generate Video Direct uses image-to-video models. See the Image-to-Video models guide for details on available models and their capabilities.

Tips for Best Results

  1. Be Specific — Describe the type of motion, character actions, and camera movement you want
  2. Experiment with Models — Different models excel at different types of motion; try multiple models to find the best fit
  3. Adjust Duration Carefully — Shorter clips often render faster and with better quality
  4. Iterate on Settings — If motion isn’t right, adjust the description, duration, or camera movement and regenerate
  5. Compare with Standard Method — Use Generate Video (standard) when you need precise first frame control
💡 Tip: This method is faster than generating a first frame separately, but you have less control over the exact starting composition. Use Generate Video (standard) when you need to fine-tune the first frame before animating.
